A man investigators said repeatedly molested a 14-year-old girl turned himself in Tuesday after Bulloch County Sheriff’s Inv. Bill Black secured warrants for his arrest.
Daniel Shane Helms, 42, Lyons Place, Macon, is charged with three counts of aggravated sexual battery, four counts of child molestation, and three counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes, said Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson.
Black began investigating in March after the teen confided in an adult that Helms, who lived with her family members, had molested her, he said. “The victim described a pattern of abuse which occurred in various locations throughout Bulloch County over a period of several months.”
Black said many of the incidents took place in a vehicle, where the teen victim was unable to escape. The encounters were not consensual, he said.
After conducting the investigation, which included questioning witnesses, Black issued warrants for Helms’ arrest. Helms, when made aware of the warrants, turned himself in to the Bulloch County Jail Tuesday.
He remains in jail without bond awaiting further court proceedings, Anderson said.
