Shelter available in Bulloch for residents in need
County: If you feel unsafe in your home, call (912) 764-0109

The Bulloch County Volunteer Organization Active in Disaster (VOAD) agency is offering shelter to residents who do not feel safe in their homes during the effects of Hurricane Dorian Wednesday night through Thursday morning.

“Bulloch VOAD is working in the Emergency Operations Center to address unmet needs,” said Bulloch County Public Safety Director Ted Wynn. “We have experienced rain here already and expect the most severe wind to continue to increase through 9 a.m. in the morning.”

There is a shelter open in the Statesboro city limits, but it can only house 50 people, he said. Those who do not feel safe in their homes should call (912) 764-0109.

“That is a direct line into the EOC. Once we determine their need we will direct them to the shelter,” he said.
