Second phase construction began Friday for new Statesboro High School

Officials break ground Friday fro the new Statesboro High School.

    Today McDonald Construction began the $38 million construction on the second phase of the new Statesboro High School.
    The construction consists of building concession stands, student parking on Fleming Drive, additional work on the new stadium, and demolishing the existing structure. Bulloch county is not new to McDonald Construction. Langston Chapel Middle School and Southeast Bulloch Middle School were both built by the company.
     The school board is receiving approximately $13 million from the state and from Special Purpose Local Option Sales Taxes to aid in the construction process.
    Classroom and building areas are expected to be completed within 18 months, and the gymnasium and auditorium finished within two years.
