SEBMS student charged with carrying weapon at school
13-year-old found with box cutter

A student carrying a box cutter at Southeast Bulloch Middle School on Wednesday faces charges of carrying a weapon on school property and disrupting a public school.

School officials called Bulloch County sheriff's deputies after being informed that a 13-year-old student possibly had a knife as well as marijuana, said Bulloch County Sheriff Noel Brown. However, the student was found only with a box cutter, and no illegal substances.

The juvenile was arrested and turned over to parental custody afterward. The case will be handled by the Department of Juvenile Justice and the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office, he said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Deputy Cole Carter at (912) 764-8888.
