Video catches suspect in act of robbery at eatery

SYLVANIA - Video footage quickly led to an arrest after New China restaurant owner reported an armed robbery in Sylvania last week, said Sylvania Police Department Lt. Tony Taylor.
A black man was reported entering the restaurant on West Ogeechee Street around 7 p.m. Wednesday, wearing all black, Taylor said. He came in and told an employee to give him some rice, he said. Handing him a dollar and some change, he reached for the cash register two different times, showing the employee a small handgun in his left pocket, Taylor said.
The employee said he told the offender about the cameras in the restaurant and proceeded to call 911, officials said, at which point the offender fled.
Taylor said within hours, evidence identifying Larnell Andre Gholson as the suspected offender was retrieved from the store's video footage. A concerted effort between Sylvania PD and Screven County Sheriff's Office led to his arrest, and everything fell into place, said Taylor.
Gholson, 20, was located at his home on Fox Hunters Road, arrested, and charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of marijuana.
