Screven Chamber to swear in new board, members

The new Executive Board of Directors for 2011 and new board members will be sworn in at the 37th annual meeting of the Screven County Chamber of Commerce to be Thursday, at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Sylvania. Leadership Screven graduates will also be presented at Thursday's meeting.

The Chamber's interim director Brooke Lawn said one change in leadership will include Connie McMillan-Roe passing her gavel to incoming president Kim Mundy (Tri-Counties Real Estate Company). Roe was the 2010 president of the Chamber.

"Kim has served on the board and been a volunteer for many years," said Roe. "She works diligently, serving her community through pursuing projects and goals," she said, "and will serve the community with loyalty and commitment," she said.

In addition, executive board members to be sworn in on Thursday include president-elect Darlene Anthony (State Farm Insurance), secretary/treasurer Tripp Sheppard (Bank of Newington), and past president Connie McMillan-Roe (Pinevale Campground & RV Resort).

Joining the board of directors are Karen Thompson, retired; Ben T. Boyer, retired; and Ray Hicks (County Extension Agent). Lagina Evans (Screven County Hospital) is returning to the board for another term.

The social will begin at 6:30 p.m. and dinner will be at 7 p.m. with the business meeting and Leadership Screven graduation following. Patt Merritt, manager of Community Development for Georgia EMC will present the graduates, said Lawn.
