SYLVANIA — Screven-Jenkins Regional Libraries will offer a special showing of the Ken Burns epic “The Civil War.”

The acclaimed documentary will be shown in installments at 6 p.m. on Thursday nights at the Screven County Library beginning October 14, said Sharon Blank, public services librarian.

At the final showing on November 11, Veteran’s Day, a special discussion will be led by Georgia Southern University history professor and Civil War expert Dr. Alan Downs.

Showings at the Jenkins County Memorial Library are scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday nights from October 15 to Nov. 1, where Downs will also be lecturing on Friday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m.
