After Statesboro Police arrested three men involved in an altercation last week near Platinum Lounge, a gun involved in the shooting was linked to a January burglary in Metter.
Metter Police Det. Tim Platt said a gun, which one of the suspects reportedly waved during the argument, had been stolen from BJ's Sportstore, according to an article Wednesday by Metter Advertiser reporter Jerri Goodman.
The Rutger 9 mm was seized after Statesboro Police arrested Christopher Allen Nance, 18, of Metter; Herman Ballard, 19, and Dominique Pereze Butler, 19, both of Swainsboro. Nance was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a deadly weapon to a public gathering, carrying a pistol without a license, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, felony theft by receiving stolen property, marijuana possession and disorderly conduct.
Ballard was charged with felony theft by receiving stolen property and disorderly conduct. Butler faces multiple charges. All three were taken to the Bulloch County Jail.
Goodman reported there were three additional guns stolen from BJ's in January during the burglary. No charges were filed against the three suspects relating to the sports store burglary, and the case remains under investigation, she said.
