Statesboro police continue to investigate an armed robbery as well as possible other crimes connected to the incident that occurred around 10 p.m. Wednesday night at Cambridge-at-Southern/The Palms Apartments near Georgia Southern University.

An initial Nixle alert (a notice sent by text to subscribers) warned residents police were seeking a black male, standing between 5’7” and 5’11”, weighing around 150 to 170 pounds, wearing an orange bandanna, brown shorts, a long-sleeved black shirt and having a “low haircut,” suspected in an armed robbery at the apartments.

A second Nixle alert followed, stating police were seeking about five black males, all wearing black clothing and red bandannas. The men were seen fleeing from the area; three running towards Stadium Walk Apartments and two running in front

Statesboro Police Cpl. Justin Samples said detectives were investigating the incident Thursday and “new developments” arose late Thursday afternoon, delaying a press release including further details.

Samples said additional information is expected to be released Friday after detectives continue to question witnesses and possible suspects.
