Statesboro Police are seeking information about a strong-arm robbery that took place at The Pointe at Southern apartments early Tuesday.
A man who said he was attacked by an unknown assailant went to East Georgia Regional Medical Center for treatment of superficial injuries after the attack, and spoke to SPD Officer Katrina Marson, said Statesboro Police Chief Stan York.
The victim said he was walking to his truck around 6:15 a.m. when an unknown man, dressed in a gray hooded sweatshirt and wearing a dark gray bandanna over his face, tackled him from behind, he said.
The offender “went through his pockets and took his cellular phone,” York said.
The suspect is described as a black male, standing around 5'10” and stocky, he said.
The case was turned over to SPD Det. Keith Holloway, who opened an investigation, he said.
“The Statesboro Police Department urges everyone to be aware of their surroundings and walk with a friend if possible,” York said. “This is one way to avoid being a victim.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Keith Holloway with the Statesboro Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division at 912-764-1542. Information that is provided will be held in strict confidence, York said.
