Police are seeking three men who simply walked out of a local retail store with shopping carts full of TVs and a computer last week.
Walmart surveillance video shows three black males enter the store’s grocery section entrance, and later captured the same men leaving through the same portal. Video also shows one of the men pushing a cart filled with the electronics into the garden center area as he looks behind him.
Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said Advanced Patrol Officer Jeremy Hancock responded July 9 just after 1 p.m. to the Statesboro store regarding the felony theft. He spoke with Walmart loss prevention staff, who said the trio stole five LG 32” LCD TVs valued at $338 each; two Vizio 26” TVs valued at $298 each; one Philips 32” TV valued at $318 and one Dell desktop computer valued at $798.
“The total value of the items take was $3,640,” he said.
Statesboro Police Major Scott Brunson said the man apparently just walked out of the store with the items and was not stopped or questioned by anyone.
The two other men shown in surveillance video apparently went back outside while the third suspect remained inside, and waited in a burgundy Ford Expedition.
“The video showed the incident taking place between 2:10 a.m. and 2:40 a.m. July 8,” Turner said.
The man captured on video with the shopping cart full of TVs was wearing a grey tank top, plaid shorts, and a pink hat. He is approximately 5’8 and weighs approximately 220 pounds, he said.
Another man was wearing a white tank top and blue jean shorts. He is approximately 5’7, and 175 pounds. The third suspect was wearing black shorts and a teal shirt with a design on the front, he said. He is about 6’01 and weighs approximately 195 pounds.
The case was turned over to Statesboro Police Det. Keith Holloway.
Anyone with information is asked to Holloway at the Statesboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division (912-764-9911). “Information that is provided will be held in strict confidence,” Turner said.
