Police searching for two men for robbing Sonic Drive-In

Police are searching for two men who were able to steal an undisclosed amount of money from a drive-in restaurant early Tuesday morning.
According to an incident report at the Statesboro Police Department, an employee at the Sonic on Buckhead Drive went out the back door at approximately 1:15 a.m. to take out some trash when he heard the door close behind him. He then went back into the restaurant where he heard the front door close.
He ran out the door to see two men running towards the back of the building with a dark blue bank bag containing an undisclosed amount of money, the report said.
Russell Rosengart, who owns both the Buckhead and South Main Street Sonic locations in Statesboro, said the employee had no contact with the perpetrators.
"It wasn't a hold up or anything like that," he said. "Someone just saw an opportunity and took it."
Rosengart said employees at the store make several deposits a day so there "wasn't much money" stolen in the incident.
This is the first time anything like this has happened at either location, Rosengart said.
The case is still under investigation by the Statesboro Police Department.
