Police are searching for a man who robbed a woman at gunpoint in her home Sunday evening.

At 8:30 p.m. Sunday, the police department responded to a home on Park Avenue in reference to an armed robbery that had just occurred, Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said in a news release issued Wednesday afternoon.

A 58-year-old woman told police she was approached in her driveway by a man she doesn't know. The man forced the woman into her home by threatening to harm her with a firearm, Turner said.

Once inside, he robbed her of an undisclosed amount of cash and miscellaneous items, then fled the scene, Turner said.

The woman described the offender as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall with a thin build. She had no signs of physical injury from the incident, Turner said.

Anyone with information concerning this case is asked to contact Detective Kevin Weatherly at the Statesboro Police Department at (912) 764-9911. Anonymous tips may be submitted online at www.tipsoft.com or by sending a text message beginning with "TIPSSPD" to 274637 (CRIMES). All information is strictly confidential, Turner said.
