POWDER SPRINGS, Ga.Two boys survived an attack that left a woman and her two daughters dead in a suburban home outside Atlanta, authorities said Wednesday.

Both boys were found unconscious inside the house after a relative called 911 just before 9 a.m., police Detective Kelly Gobely said. One of the boys was the son of the slain woman, who police said was widowed. One of the daughters was an adult, police said.

"I don't have their manner of death," Gobely said. "I know the medical examiner's office is here. We will have to wait for them to give us word."

The two boys were taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite in Atlanta, about 20 miles away, Gobely said. She had no word on their conditions.

Cobb County police spokesman Dana Pierce said officers were investigating the deaths at the Powder Springs home as a triple homicide. Police said the home is in a quiet neighborhood and everyone who lived in the house had been accounted for.

Jermaine Goddard, a 16-year-old neighbor, said one of the girls who lived in the home was his classmate.

"She was just a nice kid," he said. He said he often saw the girl walking a younger brother to the school bus stop in the mornings.
