A jammed pistol thwarted a robbery attempt early Sunday morning at a local night spot.
Management at Club Bunz on Chandler Road declined to press charges, even though security employees detained the offender until Statesboro police arrived.
Around 1:10 a.m. Sunday morning, following a busy Saturday night at the club, a man was in the club office with a member of management, discussing pay for services rendered earlier, according to police reports.
The 29-year-old male suspect, who lives in Statesboro, suddenly pulled a pistol and demanded all the money the club had taken in that night, reports stated. But before the 55-year-old victim could react, the gun jammed, and the suspect fled. Club security stopped him and held him until police arrived.
Statesboro police questioned the offender, but the victim signed a waiver of prosecution, refusing to press charges, reports stated.
No one was injured in the incident.
