A resurfacing project is now underway on GA 67 in Statesboro. According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, crews began resurfacing the roadway Thursday night.

The project will remove rough pavement on State Route 67 and replace it with a smoother driving surface. Resurfacing will continue for approximately 90 days. Weeknight lane closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., if weather permits. Crews will work nightly in an effort to minimize the impact to the traveling public.

Motorists should expect minor delays on S.R. 67 between south of Harville Road to east of US 301/SR 73. Traffic will be shifted in both directions while lanes are milled and inlayed with new asphalt.

The 3.7 mile long resurfacing of S.R. 67 was awarded to Reeves Construction Company from Duluth, Ga., for $1.6 million. The contract completion date is August 31.
