More candidates qualify for Bulloch County offices

Four more candidates qualified Tuesday for Bulloch County offices up for election in the May 24 general primary. Qualifying continues 9 a.m. - 5p.m. through Thursday and 9 a.m. until noon Friday in the Board of Elections area at the Bulloch County Annex, 113 N. Main St.

Tuesday’s newly qualified candidates, as reported by Elections Supervisor Pat Lanier Jones at 4:35 p.m., were  Jimmy Hayes, for county commissioner 2A, John Dotson for county surveyor, Charlie Aaron for probate judge, and Cheri Wagner for Board of Education District  1.

There is now at least one official candidate for each of the four seats up for election on the Bulloch County Board of Commissioners.

However, for the Board of Education, District 3, where incumbent member Dr. LeVon Wilson has announced he will not seek re-election, a candidate has yet to appear.

These are the official candidates so far:

State Court Judge – Gary Mikell (incumbent)

Magistrate Judge – June Braswell (incumbent)

Solicitor General – Joseph Cushner

Sheriff – Jared Akins

County Commissioner Chairman – Roy Thompson

County Commissioner 1 A – Ray Mosley (incumbent) and Haywood Fields

County Commissioner 2A – Jimmy Hayes

County Commissioner 2C – Jappy Stringer and Gail Dismuke

Surveyor – John Dotson (incumbent)

Tax Commissioner – James Deal (incumbent)

Clerk of Court – Heather McNeal (incumbent)

Probate Judge – Lorna DeLoach, Marty Waters and Charlie Aaron

BOE 1 – Shalah Hendrix and Cheri Wagner (incumbent)

BOE 7 – Heather Mims and Josh Mattos

BOE 8 – Maurice Hill (incumbent).
