Metter police arrest shooting suspect

Robert L. Williamson

Metter police arrested a man they say shot another man several times in the torso, Metter Police Chief Dennis Nelson said.
Robert L. Williamson, 36, of Palm Bay, Fla., was “arrested without incident in Bulloch County this morning by the United States Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office,” Nelson said.
Williamson is being held without bond at the Candler County Jail on aggravated assault charges. He is also wanted on outstanding warrants in Florida.
“Williamson was identified very early on in the investigation, and we knew he was still in the area,” Nelson said. “We felt that we had a very good chance of catching Williamson and didn’t want to scare him away, so we kept his identity from the public.”
Investigators believe Williamson shot the victim, Mike Mosley, numerous times July 25. The victim is still hospitalized.
“There was also information circulating that Williamson stated to others that he would not be taken alive, so we are thankful to have him in our custody,” Nelson said.  “We also deeply appreciate the assistance of the United States Marshals Office and all the surrounding law enforcement agencies that helped to pull him off the streets.”
