Statesboro Police are seeking a man they say was growing marijuana in his apartment.
Det. James Winskey notified Sgt. Kaleb Moore and Det. Tommy Brown about a "possible marijuana growth operation" at a Stadium View apartment Saturday, said Capt. L. C. Williams, criminal investigations division commander.
Moore patrolled the area of the apartment on foot and noticed two suspected marijuana plants growing on a window ledge, he said.
No one was home, but officers secured a search warrant for the apartment and had management open the apartment Sunday, he said.
Moore and Brown searched the apartment and discovered "additional unlawful narcotics" as well as recovered the two marijuana plants, Williams said.
The narcotics were MDMA, known on the street as Ecstasy. The drugs were found in the tenant's bedroom, he said.
Monday Brown secured a warrant for the arrest of Richard P. Bolton, 21, who lived in the Stadium Club apartment, he said. Bolton is charged with manufacturing marijuana and possession of MDMA.
Williams hopes citizens can help detectives locate the suspect.
"Anyone having knowledge of Mr. Bolton's whereabouts is asked to please contact the Statesboro Police Department at (912) 764-9911," he said.
