A man who survived a collision with an 18-wheeler Monday died minutes later when a second big rig slammed into him. Nicolas Derrick McCloud, 21, of University Drive in Savannah, struck the rear end of a 2001 Freightliner around 5 p.m. Monday as both he and the truck driver, Phillip Jones, 24, of Montrose, traveled east on Interstate 16 near mile marker 114, according to Georgia State Patrol reports. After impact, McCloud’s 2007 Mercury flipped and landed upside down in the left eastbound lane.
