A fatal shooting Sunday morning at a Sylvania night club has Georgia Bureau of Investigation special agents and Screven County sheriff's investigators seeking answers.

Antonio Rodriguez Walker, 21, was shot around 3 a.m. at The Zone Bar & Grill, said Screven County Sheriff Mike Kile in a statement released Sunday evening.

Screven County sheriff's deputies responded to 911 reports of a shooting at the bar, "known locally as 'The Spot,' " Kile said. The bar is located on Highway 301 about 3 miles north of Sylvania.

Screven County sheriff's Investigator Brett Dickerson said Walker was transported from the scene by ambulance and taken to Optim Medical Center in Sylvania, where he later died of his injuries.

Dickerson said the death is being treated as a homicide, and Walker's body was taken to the GBI crime lab in Savannah. A medical examiner will determine details surrounding the death, he said.

Kile requested that the GBI assist in the investigation.

"GBI special agents ... crime scene specialists, and my deputies are out working right now to determine exactly what happened," he said.

Dickerson said details of the shooting are not yet being released, as the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the GBI at (912) 871-1121 or the Screven County Sheriff's Office at (912) 564-2013.
