A Portal man remained in jail Tuesday after he tried to run over his girlfriend with a vehicle on Saturday, according to the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office.
At 12:30 p.m. Saturday, patrol deputies responded to the 3000 block of Two Chop Road for a domestic dispute, Sheriff Lynn Anderson said in a news release issued Tuesday.
On arrival, deputies met with a woman who told them her boyfriend, Keith Lamar Coney, 41, of Willow Hill Road in Portal, had thrown a concrete block through the window of her vehicle and tried to run her over, Anderson said.
The woman was not injured.
Deputies found Coney at his home a short time later. He was arrested for the attack on his girlfriend and found to be in possession of a 2004 Nissan Maxima that had been reported stolen from Clayton County, Anderson said.
Coney was taken to the Bulloch County Jail and charged with aggravated assault, second-degree criminal damage to property, felony theft by receiving stolen property and unlawful use of license plates.
He remains at the jail pending further judicial action.
