A man who had been under investigation since being accused of child molestation over a year ago was arrested on Tuesday.

Statesboro police Sgt. Jake Saxon said that a 7-year-old girl told police on Aug. 1, 2015, that Jerry Prescott, 38, of Mikell Street, “touched her inappropriately.” The child was “unrelated to Prescott but lived in the home,” he said.

The case was turned over to police Detective Keith Holloway, who gathered enough evidence to issue warrants for Prescott’s arrest, Saxon said.

Officers located Prescott on Tuesday and placed him under arrest on charges of child molestation. He was booked into the Bulloch County Jail around 8:30 p.m. and is being held without bond, according to jail records.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Holloway at (912) 764-9911.
