Statesboro police arrested a Brooklet man Wednesday believed to have robbed a convenience store as well as an individual last week.

Felix Arrieta Roberts, 33, of Leefield Brooklet Road, is suspected in the early morning robbery of the Enmark gas station and convenience store at the intersection of North Main Street and Northside Drive West around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28, said Statesboro police Maj. Rob Bryan, interim police chief.

Clerks at the store said Roberts claimed to have a firearm and they believed he had a gun, although he never showed one, Bryan said. Due to this, when Roberts turned himself in Wednesday to the Bulloch County Jail, claiming he was the offender in the incident, he was charged with armed robbery.

Roberts is also suspected of another robbery later that day at the intersection of Grady and Parker streets.

"Detective Kevin Weatherly responded to the jail and interviewed Roberts," Bryan said. "As a result of this interview, Roberts has also been charged with crimes related to another robbery of a person that occurred ... approximately 2:21 p.m." on Jan. 28.

"In this incident, the victim provided a ride to an unknown subject (Roberts) and was robbed when the vehicle stopped at the incident location," he said.

Roberts is currently being held in the Bulloch County Jail, without bond, pending further court action.
