Man arrested under false name
Identity theft charges added
Reashawn Billingsley

A man arrested last week on armed robbery charges isn’t who he said he was, police said.

When Statesboro police arrested a man and woman last week for involvement in three armed robberies, the man identified himself as Terick DeShawn Debose, but he is really Reashawn Billingsley, 29, said Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner.

The real Debose was not arrested. His father called the Statesboro Police Department July 14, four days after it was reported Debose was arrested, claiming his son was “currently with him in New Jersey and not in jail in Bulloch County,” Turner said. “He further advised that Debose’s wallet had been previously been reported lost or stolen.”

A charge of identity theft has been added to Billingsley’s list of offenses, which locally include three counts of armed robbery, one count of kidnapping, three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and two counts of aggravated assault.

Billingsley and Tina Tahara Fudge, 30, Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, were each arrested for involvement in armed robberies in June and July at Sonic on South Main Street, College Lane and Eagle Inn on South Main Street.

Billingsley has outstanding bench warrants out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for failure to appear in court in reference to charges of rape, burglary, aggravated assault, and various other related charges. More charges could be pending, Turner said.

Billingsley was using Debose’s name and identification for multiple uses including hotel reservations, he said. “Through the course of the investigation and prior to the arrest, the Statesboro Police Department was provided a booking photo of Billingsley by an out-of-state agency where he was arrested and bonded out under Debose’s credentials. Fingerprints confirmed that the suspect in custody is Reashawn Billingsley.”

Terick Debose is a victim of identity theft and is not under investigation by the Statesboro Police Department. “Billingsley was arrested under Debose’s name; Debose was not arrested by the Statesboro Police Department,” Turner said. “Warrants and criminal histories are being updated with the correct information.”

Fudge was charged with two counts of armed robbery, one count of kidnapping, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and one count of aggravated assault.
