Police surveillance at a local business resulted in an arrest when the suspect believed to be responsible for entering autos the night before returned to the scene.
Statesboro police captured Henry Ross III, 47, of Dink Station Road in Register, on camera at Westside Automotive Saturday after police were notified around 9:20 a.m. of several vehicles being entered previously, said Statesboro police Chief Mike Broadhead.
“Radios and other audio system components had been removed from some of the vehicles. Officers responded and began investigating,” he said. “That evening, officers conducted surveillance at the business and apprehended the listed suspect in the act of unlawfully entering an automobile.”
Ross was arrested without incident and transported to the Bulloch County Jail to await further court action, charged with entering auto, forced entry, possession of tools for the commission of crime, and possession of a drug related object.
Broadhead praised officers involved for “tremendous police work.
"The officers investigating this case showed a great deal of personal initiative and conducted a stake-out of the property,” he said. “Their willingness to put in extra effort in this case allowed them to catch the suspect in the act. This is a great example of the officers and staff of the Statesboro Police Department working hard to stop criminal activity."
