Try local first!
Locally Owned 1/25/24

What does it really mean to shop local, and is it even possible?

We’ve all heard the reasons to shop local: Money stays in the community, local businesses support local causes, they provide personalized services and customize product selection to local needs, they employ your kids, etcetera, etcetera. But let’s face it, no one can shop local 100% of the time. Believe me, I’ve tried. But I can’t always find exactly what I need locally, so sometimes I have to rely on Amazon or Walmart.com. Sound familiar?

But what I can do is try local first. That means getting out and seeing what’s in my local stores, or calling around a little. We have some great stores in Statesboro and the surrounding areas. You may be surprised at the variety of goods available.

And while you’re out this weekend, come by and check out the gigantic CLEARANCE SALE at McKeithen’s Hardware. We are clearing out entire sections at 70% off, including ALL chicken supplies, beekeeping, roofing and boots. Many other items are available at 30–50% off. See our advertisement elsewhere in today’s paper or on our Facebook page.

As a bonus, when you shop with us, you’ll be supporting other worthy local organizations, including Fostering Families, Fixing the Boro and GreenRock! So come see us Friday–Sunday, save a bundle of money and support worthy local causes. We look forward to seeing you.
