The Scottish Heritage Society of Southeast Georgia will hold its 14th annual Robert Burns Supper to commemorate the 258th birthday of Scotland’s famous poet.
The event is set for Friday, Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. at R.J.’s Grill on South Main Street in Statesboro. “The Immortal Memory” tribute toast to Burns will be presented by Joe McGlamery, who is president of the Statesboro Herald and current president of the Bulloch County Historical Society.
The gathering of the “clansmen” begins at 6 at R. J.’s. At 6:30 p.m., Dan Ailes, will lead the parade for piping in the Haggis and the festivities will begin.
A buffet meal will be available, along with the usual “cup of kindness” in memory of the great bard, Burns. The Scottish Society will provide sparkling cider at each table.
While R. J.’s no longer offers wine and beer, attendees of the supper may bring your own wine.
Tickets for the meal and other festivities are $25 each. Also, guests and prospective members are invited to attend this special event.
