Thanks for series of Black History Month articles

I wish to thank you for publishing during February/Black History Month inspiring articles about your African American citizens in Statesboro, many of whom I personally knew. I am thankful especially for the prominence your paper gave to the article on Sunday, February 6th, about my father, Dr. Harvey van Buren, recognized for his contribution to the community some 68 years after his passing. I visited Statesboro on February 26th and spoke to a gathering of citizens at the local recreational center about my father, providing some additional information not found in your paper's article.
Aside from the above, I felt it necessary to be present to encourage community support for restoring the hospital building at 38 Elm Street, now standing for almost 90 years. Though I do not own the property, my pride at its preservation runs deep, for it was, in addition to being public property, the home that me and my siblings who grew up there.
As a concert organist, all my biographical information on programs always indicated Statesboro as my birthplace. I am encouraged about wonderful changes made since I left many years ago.
      Thanks again.
Harvey van Buren Jr.
