Editor:
On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I wish to congratulate past State Bar President James B. “Jimmy“ Franklin of Franklin, Taulbee, Rushing, Snipes & Marsh in Statesboro on his recent election as president of the Georgia Bar Foundation.
All Georgians will benefit from Mr. Franklin’s leadership of the foundation, which exists to support legal services for the poor, improve the administration of justice, promote professionalism in the practice of law, aid children who are involved in the justice system and to advance the legal system through historical study. The foundation is authorized by the Supreme Court of Georgia to receive Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Account (IOLTA) proceeds to fund these activities at the local level.
Mr. Franklin is the original leader of the Statesboro Fellows and helped set up the Georgia Bar Foundation Fellows grant program. Save Haven, a Statesboro charity that assists victims of domestic violence, recently received a $2,500 grant from the foundation.
Jimmy Franklin’s acceptance of this position of statewide responsibility further demonstrates his commitment to the public service responsibilities of State Bar members, which in turn helps uphold the rule of law and the constitutional values of our state.
 Sincerely,
Charles L. Ruffin
President, State Bar of Georgia
