Place our Creator above all else, we shall be successful in our endeavors

Editor:
America is the most amazing and wonderful nation that has ever existed. This is due to her people, to the Constitution, the Founders, and – above all – the Grace of a Loving and Compassionate God. Because of the understanding of the framers of the Declaration of Independence, America is “endowed by Her Creator with certain unalienable rights,” which means that as long as We the People place our Creator above all else, then we shall be successful in our endeavors.
On reading the Declaration of Independence tonight – as I often do when it seems our nation is under attack – it is obvious that those who are given the privilege of leading our country have greatly erred in their duties. This is true of both the Democrats and the Republicans. We the People must commit ourselves to reasserting our authority over those who govern. To do this, two things must be done.
First, we must return to that which the framers of the Constitution wanted – for men and women to be assured of an honest and noble pursuit of justice and equality by those who are elected to represent us. At present, we have men and women who have gone to Washington and believe that they now “own” their job. In the meantime, their jobs – to be our representatives in our republic – make them into millionaires. Special interest groups, unions, and big business have conspired to buy the votes of many of the Senators and Representatives in Congress and perhaps have inroads in the White House as well. Again, this isn’t a “right” or “left” issue, it is a moral issue and must be addressed.
Second, in order to effect change, it is time for We the People to make term limits a reality. We must put in new men and women to represent us. It does not matter if you feel “your” Senator or Congressman is doing a good job, it is time to send a message to Washington. At the same time, we must elect those who are willing to listen to our voices – something that is not being done at present – and make those who are elected understand that they work for us and not the other way around.
Please join me in taking a stand to change our country for the better. We must return God to His rightful place as the head of all we are as Americans. We were created as a Judeo/Christian nation and that is what we must remain. However, too many have turned their backs on their Creator, and it is only through His Love and Compassion that America is the greatest nation on earth. In order for us to stay that way, it is up to each of us to pray, practice our faith, and learn what it takes to be an American patriot – the job each of us should aspire to become.
I close with this warning to those in Washington who seem to feel they have unfettered power and that We the People are impotent.
The Declaration of Independence states: “…when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new guards for their future security.” The abuses have begun, the usurpations have gone on too long, and it is our right and duty to change the government. To all of those who are reading this; seek out candidates who want smaller government, fiscal responsibility, a major reduction in “entitlements”, and are willing to sign a pledge that they will limit their terms to a total of 12 years in Washington.
