Lend a hand to ACTS, if you can

Several Community Voice bloggers expressed a desire to help local people who are in need beyond the Christmas season. I'd like to recommend volunteering at Area Christians Together in Service, Inc. (ACTS), if you are available on Wednesday or Friday mornings. ACTS is a cooperative benevolence ministry and a United Way partner agency. Its volunteers help Bulloch County families who are in critical financial need with their bills, counseling, referrals and food.
Volunteering with ACTS is a satisfying way to help others in the spirit of Jesus. I have enjoyed getting to know many nice volunteers as I worked beside them. Experience is not necessary and your help is needed. Additional Bulloch County churches are encouraged to partner with ACTS by providing financial and/or volunteer support. For more information, please call (912) 489-4588.
Another way to help is to take your extra clothes and bedding to Worn Threads Thrift Store, which also serves as a community closet (with vouchers) for those unable to afford clothing and fire victims. Good quality clothing is available for all to purchase and the profits benefit ACTS. Worn Threads' staff is all volunteer, and you would be welcome to join them on their two-hour shifts. Both ACTS and Worn Threads are in the Outreach Center at 515 Denmark Street in Statesboro.
Please consider joining with other civic-minded citizens to help those who are in need in Bulloch County.
