Cancer patient, family say thank you

Editor:

What began as a brother's and sister-in-law's love for his sister after she received a diagnosis of cancer became a wonderful effort by friends, family and community. So often, we only see headlines of bad things happening around us, but our family wanted to let folks know they are beautiful spirited people who are willing to lend an extended hand to help and we humbly wanted to say a very special, huge "thank you" to everyone who helped with the chicken dinner benefit for Stephanie Mascarello Deloach on Aug. 30. We are so grateful to the ones who showed up at 4:30 in the morning to begin cooking chicken and also to all who came later to help prepare plates. We had an assembly line in the hot August weather that prepared hundreds of plates, helped deliver, helped sell tickets and whatever task there was to be done. Also a huge "thank you" to everyone who purchased a ticket or made a donation to help with funds to make this battle easier.

As Stephanie continues her journey through chemo and later radiation, she wishes to offer with the most sincere gratitude and humble heart, "thank you," for the true Spirit of God's love that has been shown by so many and ask that you remember not only her and her family in prayer but others in our community who are also bravely facing this battle against this awful disease, and please Always remember to Say a Prayer (ASAP).

Also a special thanks to our awesome Bethel Baptist Church family. We love you all.

Thank you all.
