My father, B.F. Newton, served his country in World War II with 27 months of duty in China and Burma. His compensation was an honorable discharge, a Bronze Star, and 33 years bad health due to his service. He died in 1978 at the ripe old age of 61.
I have missed him every day since his death but in the same sentence I will say that I am glad he is not here today to see what this country has turned into and the type of federal government we have elected to lead us.
I pray that God will bless our troops and protect them. As for the rest of us, we deserve what we got.
