1Bulloch thanks all for helping in DUI checkpoints

1Bulloch is a community-led initiative to reduce alcohol-related traffic crashes in our county.
Between years 2002-2010, there were 934 in Bulloch County alone. Law enforcement and local retailers teamed up to help reduce DUI crashes in Bulloch County by conducting sobriety checkpoints on September 22.
We would like to thank the following law enforcement agencies for their participation: Statesboro Police Department, GSU Office of Public Safety, Bulloch Co. Sheriff's Office, GA State Patrol, Post 45, Portal Police Department, and Brooklet Police Department.
Also, several local restaurants allowed 1Bulloch volunteers to post flyers publicizing the checkpoints before they were implemented.
By publicizing the checkpoints in advance, our goal was to increase the public's perception of risk of getting caught. In doing so, the hope is that people would avoid getting behind the wheel if they have been drinking. Thanks to all our volunteers and to Subway for feeding the officers!
