I thought it might be kind of fun to ask some local realtors what they felt was the most "interesting" real estate listing in their portfolio. I think their answers might surprise you.
Hazel Hendrix with Century 21, the Hunter Group said her most interesting property is a one bedroom, one bath home on Cypress Lake.
"It has a boat slip, a big deck, and a great view of the lake," Hendrix said. "It is a very nice house, and whether you are in the bedroom or in the kitchen, you can see the lake. It is quite peaceful, and it is listed for $98,500."
Nick Propps of Manack Signature Properties suggested the former Alicia Bea's II building at 20 East Cherry Street in downtown Statesboro.
"The building is for sale right now for $285,000," Propps said. "It has 18,000 square feet, very tall ceilings, and sits on about three acres. Some of that property is owned by the railroad company, but we have worked out an easement with them."
Propps said he is working on trying to convert the building to a public venue of some type that could also be used by nonprofits.
"As an example, it would be a great place for bands to perform, who wouldn't necessarily be a great fit with the Averitt Center or the Performing Arts Center," he said. "There really isn't a venue for those types of bands, and with Georgia Southern's student population, there is certainly a demand for that."
Shannon Grindler with Coldwell Banker Tanner Realty also has a downtown property that she feels is very interesting.
"I just listed the former location of the Colonial House of Flowers on Savannah Avenue," she said. "It is a very pretty property that is perfect for retail. I could see a nice boutique in their or even a specialty food market." Grindler said it will be listed for $599,000.
Finally, Cindy Osborne of RE/MAX Preferred Realty in Statesboro chose a home that few realize is even there - 1382 Jerry Hall Road.
This home is on 7.54 acres with a great pond," Osborne said. "It has 5 bedrooms and an in-law suite in basement. It also has 2,500 square feet of unfinished basement. So few homes in this area have a basement like that. It is listed for $274,900."
Four realtors, four totally different properties. Are we surprised? That would be, no. That is why I love realtors.
So, until next Tuesday, I bid you au revoir.
