Last week, Parker's Convenience Store gave all of their Pump Pal customers an early Christmas gift by lowering gas prices 12 cents per gallon for 12 days ending on Friday - Christmas Day. Not to be outdone, Flash Foods lowered their pump prices 15 cents per gallon for their member clients to help us all get into the Christmas spirit.
Since there are only three shopping days left for Christmas it is time most of the men reading my column get busy shopping. With this in mind, I have reached out to a few popular local businesses and searched for some last minute, creative gift ideas for everyone on your list. I wanted to encourage you to support local businesses. Here are a few of my favorite ideas:
For more than three decades, Southern Sound has been upgrading and personalizing cars and trucks. One of the most popular items this season is the Remote Start System, which can be installed on any vehicle for around $200. Perfect for warming your car up in winter time and cooling it in the summer time. (912) 764-6003.
For the adventure seekers on your list, a half-hour introduction-to-piloting flight costs $75. This includes a basic overview of piloting a plane and preflight check. This is a perfect gift for someone who loves to fly or is considering getting a private pilot license. Midcoast Aviation, based at the Statesboro Airport. (912) 495-8081.
The Averitt Center for the Arts has packed the Rosengart Gallery at 41 West Main with incredibly unique and custom gifts created by local and regional artists. They have lots of items that are unique to Statesboro that you will not find anywhere else. They also offer gift tickets for future events and gift certificates for private lessons in all areas they offer services in. Hint: the social dance programs are a hit for everyone on your list. (912) 212-2787.
Pladd Dot Music offers gift certificates for musical instruments, supplies or even lessons. One of the most popular gifts this season is the guitar starter pack for $200. For the super special person on your list, consider giving them a gift certificate for a CMG Custom designed Guitar beginning at $1,100. The recipient of your gift will work personally with Chris Mitchell to design the guitar, which will be manufactured in Statesboro. (912) 764-3230
The Clubhouse "All Star" package is a great stocking stuffer for your children or perfect gift for the grandchildren. It includes one game of bowling (shoes included), one game of laser tag, one game of mini golf, one go cart driver pass, $5 bonus money Clubhouse card (use on a weekday and get an additional $5 of bonus on the Clubhouse card) for $34.99. (912) 871-1000
Colonial House of Flowers offers flower subscriptions certain to thrill all the ladies on your list! They will help you with style, budget and schedule. The concept is the same as any other subscription service. They offer a minimum subscription of three months and they will send beautiful, simple arrangements for as long as you'd like. It is a perfect gift that keeps on giving throughout the year. It's always seasonal and the recipient will continue to be pleasantly surprised. (912) 489-6097.
Anderson's General Store not only has a large selection of Yeti Coolers and Big Green EGG's but they also have a great selection of must have accessories for both beginning at $20. Some of the hottest sellers include Yeti seat cushions, Yeti cable locks to make sure it does not walk away and wheels for your Yeti. (912) 489-3443.
A full Day of Serenity at Serenity Day Spa & Salon includes a 60-minute Swedish Massage, 60-minute facial, spa manicure, spa pedicure, botanical hair treatment with shampoo and style and lunch only $235. For only $60 you can get the Himalayan Happiness, which includes a 30-minute Swedish massage and a basic pedicure. (912) 489-3883.
My second favorite gift idea is a three-month gift subscription for the Statesboro Herald for $35. (912) 489-9460.
Topping my list, of course, is gift certificate to Statesboro's legendary photographer, my wife, Lori Grice! Lori will add 25 percent to the value of any $500 or greater gift certificate. (912) 764-7274
Shopping local makes everyone happy! Pick your favorite from this list or a business throughout our community and make the merchant's day. Together, we all will have a much merrier Christmas!
