Holiday food drive seeks donated foods
Concerted Services seeking holiday aid for less fortunate

While holidays are filled with loaded tables and festivities for many, some families are not so blessed. Area residents have the opportunity to help those less fortunate by participating in a holiday meal drive for Thanksgiving and Christmas, said Alex Smith, county coordinator for Bulloch County Concerted Services, Inc.

Located at 515 Denmark Street in Statesboro, Bulloch County Concerted Services is hosting the drive to feed families who can’t afford holiday fare, “We are asking individuals, agencies, churches, etc. to donate a box or bag of food containing a frozen turkey, stuffing mix, green beans, cranberry sauce, box of mac & cheese, cake mix, and frosting,” he said. “Each box or bag should contain enough of these items to feed a family of four people.”  Concerted Services often get calls from families around the holidays looking for food to feed their families, he said. “We will distribute the boxes or bags to families for Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.”

Donations are now being accepted through Thursday Dec. 21.  Concerted Services can come pick-up items from agencies upon request. “Take this wonderful opportunity to bless another family in our community by contributing,” he said.
