Georgia Southern University Police are searching for two men who reportedly robbed another man as he was walking in Herty Woods early Monday morning.

The victim, a 27-year-old man, told police he was walking home from work around 4 a.m. on Tillman Road when he decided to cut through the area of the football practice fields near Herring Pavilion on the old Herty Trail because he wanted to stay off the highway.

When he was about 75 feet from a wooden bridge, the man heard a tree limb snap and, as he turned around, another man punched him in the back of the head, police said.

The victim said the hit stunned him and knocked him down, and that his shirt was ripped as he fell. A second man approached, and both hit him in the face and abdomen, the victim told police. Officers noted that the area above the man's right eye was swollen.

The man said one of the suspects took out his wallet and removed $160 cash from it.

The victim described the suspects as follows: a black male, 5 feet 8 inches, with short hair and a thin goatee, wearing a red Atlanta Braves "Support the Troops" shirt with blue jeans; and a black male, 6 feet, muscular build, with dreads past shoulder length, wearing a white tank top with black jeans and white high-top shoes.

Police escorted the man from his home to where he thought the incident occurred. They looked around for a short time, but the victim could not identify where he had come through the woods. He then told officers he was not feeling well, so EMS was called to treat him.
