Five men suspected to be involved in hauling marijuana from Florida to sell in the Statesboro area are behind bars after Statesboro Police Department Crime Suppression Unit officers acted upon a tip about them having a shipment of drugs in town.

Statesboro Police Chief Stan York said CSU officers began investigating and discovered evidence leading to the arrest of the following: Tavoris Lashaun Delancy, 39, Emerson Street, Jacksonville, Fla.; Keir Rayshaun Delancy, 21, 103rd Street, Jacksonville, Fla.; David Nathaniel Meade, 26, Valley Circle; Mark Seth Stewart, 22, Valley Circle; and William Dean Twill, 25, Sherwood Court.

The suspects were "arrested for charges ranging from conspiracy to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession to distribute marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school and misdemeanor possession of marijuana," York said.

Officers seized " two to three pounds" of marijuana, as well as items used to package and distribute it, he said. "Additional arrests are possible as this investigation continues."
