First Friday: Staycation in Statesboro
First Friday Logo

Are high gas prices keeping you and your family from taking a vacation this summer? First Friday has the answer this month: Join the Statesboro Staycation.

The event will take place from 5:30-8 p.m. Friday on the Bulloch County Courthouse lawn. It will feature family friendly activities and food.

Staycation invites the community to see all of the opportunities Statesboro and the surrounding areas have to offer during the summer. There will be a variety of vendors, including The Jumping Place, The Clubhouse, Splash in the Boro, Ellis Travel Trailers, Eagle Creek Brewery and Pladd Dot Music. There will be a Party Harbor bouncy house and free popsicles for the children to enjoy and have the chance to get their picture taken with Elsa from "Frozen." The Clubhouse will also debut its brand new go-carts for its brand new race track.

"The Coca-Cola 125 Raceway will consist of 28 fully electric go-carts that will knock your socks off!" said Shellie Pittman, the marketing director for The Clubhouse. "Electric go-carts are not only better for the environment, but they also have so much more torque and can be centrally programmed for different maximum speeds. Clubhouse guests, prepare yourself for the ultimate racing experience!"

First Friday is a great opportunity for small businesses to advertise their products to the Statesboro community. Shop local and help support downtown by dining in one of the many local restaurants or stopping in the variety of clothing and boutique shops that are offered in the area. While you are downtown, take some time and visit the Mainstreet Statesboro Farmers Market, as well as stop by and take a tour of the Eagle Creek Brewery.
