Feed the Boro Golf Scramble is April 14
Annual tradition to raise funds for Thanksgiving meals for needy
golf

Feed the Boro is an annual tradition in Statesboro that has helped serve a hot Thanksgiving meal to thousands since it started more than 20 years ago.

Though only in its third year, the J.C. Lewis Ford Feed the Boro Golf Scramble is a key event in helping raise funds for the Thanksgiving meal and the 2016 Scramble is set for Thursday, April 14, at Forest Heights Country Club.
Registration is open now and costs $100 per person or $400 per foursome. There are also sponsorships available at different donation levels.

The price gets you 18 holes of golf, a riding cart, unlimited drinks sponsored by El Jalapenio and lunch. Cash prizes will be given to the winner of the tournament, gross and net, as well as for longest drive and closest to the pin. Registration and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m. April 14, and tee-off is at 1 p.m.

Feed the Boro will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 23, and Thursday, Nov. 24. Wednesday is preparation day in Statesboro High School's kitchen, where the turkeys are cooked and desserts are sliced and packaged. On Thanksgiving Day, volunteers fan out across the area to deliver more than 2,000 meals to families in need.

They are also looking to help develop future leaders. If you know of any students interested in experience in fundraising and event planning please have them email robinaspinwall@gmail.com.
