A Monticello man died after a Sunday evening crash on Interstate 16 at Highway 301 South. Joseph E. Edwards, 74, of Sprayberry Road in Monticello, was driving a 2011 Lincoln Towncar on the I-16 exit at Highway 301 South around 7:41 p.m. Sunday, said Georgia State Patrol Post 45 Trooper Jonathan Malone. Edwards stopped, then pulled into the path of a 2009 Ford Focus driven by Frances Fay Smith, 45, of Brooks Brewton Road in Claxton.
