Rev. John Long with the Son’s Light Ministry and director of Christian Social Ministries arrived Monday morning – the beginning of Thanksgiving week – at East Georgia Regional Medical Center to pick up 154 bags of Thanksgiving food items that were donated by the hospital Auxiliary and EGRMC employees.

The bags were each filled with everything needed to prepare a Thanksgiving meal, and also included a gift card to purchase a ham or turkey.

After speaking with David Keene, president of the Auxiliary, Long said the 2018 drive was the largest donation Son’s Light had received during the seven years of the Auxiliary supporting the Thanksgiving project.

“We know the holidays can be challenging for some families here in our community,” Keene said. “This is just one thing we can do to help ease that burden, and know that more families are able to enjoy a nice Thanksgiving meal this year.”

Christian Social Ministries and Pastor Long have worked with the Auxiliary at East Georgia Regional for the past seven years to help make the Thanksgiving holiday a little brighter for the less fortunate in the Bulloch County area.

The hospital Auxiliary's effort to gather the food items is a joyous effort the group looks forward to every year.

Anyone wishing to donate to Christian Social Ministries, can contact Long at (912) 512-0107.
