Statesboro City Council meets today at 6 p.m. with the main topic of discussion likely to be updates and legal agreements relating to the Flying J truck stop development.

            The project, planned for the southeast corner of 301 South and Interstate 16, will use a $6 million Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority loan to extend water and sewer infrastructure out to the intersection. The debt service is scheduled to be paid for with the additional SPLOST funds generated by the development. Part of the agreement would require Bulloch County and the city to enter into an agreement with the Flying J where they will, in the event of a SPLOST receipt shortfall, make up the difference in order to meet the debt payment.
