Author, lecturer, educator and social justice advocate Angela Davis will share her sometimes controversial perspective in Statesboro at a celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The speaking event is set for 7:30 p.m., Thursday inside the Performing Arts Center at Georgia Southern. It is free and open to the public. Davis will speak about what the civil rights movement means for 2011, which Consuela Ward, director of Georgia Southern's Multicultural Student Center, said will add new perspective to Dr. King's vision for current and future generations.
