Note: The following is the beginning of a series of columns looking at how hard currency was introduced in Georgia and Bulloch County. The term "dollar" came from the 15th-century coin minted by the Count of Schlick in Bohemia, the schlickten-thaler. Soon, the Germans had the thaler and the dahler, the Danes and Swedes the daler and the Italians the tollero.
