(Note: The following is part of a series of columns looking at the establishment and growth of doctors, hospitals and the health industry in Georgia and Bulloch County.) At a medical conference held December 19, 1929, Dr. B.T. Beasley of Statesboro suggested creating the Southeastern Surgical Congress. In 1930, Beasley was elected executive secretary of the new organization. The first scientific assembly of the new SSC was held in Atlanta March 9–10, 1931.
