Capt. Tom Woodrum of the Statesboro Police Department tapes a copy of a court-ordered injunction to the door of the Platinum Lounge after padlocking the entrance Wednesday. The establishment was ordered to cease operations because of repeated violent incidents.
Law enforcement officers padlocked and chain-locked two Statesboro nightclubs Wednesday evening, just a few days after both were the scenes of violence. Bulloch County Superior Court Judge John R. Turner signed a temporary restraining order requested by the city of Statesboro earlier Wednesday ordering both the Platinum Lounge, at 2 Proctor St., and the Primetime Lounge, at 608 Northside Drive E., to cease operations, Statesboro City Attorney J. Alvin Leaphart said Wednesday evening. Shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, shots were fired at the Platinum Lounge, but no one was injured and "no victim came forward," said Statesboro police Advanced Patrol Officer Justin Samples, the public information officer for the department.
