Candler sheriff seeks fugitive
Man fails to report to mandated rehab

Candler County sheriff’s investigators are seeking a man who failed to comply with a mandated rehabilitation sentence and is now charged with escape.

Todd Richard Hirsch, 39, was ordered through Candler County Superior Court in November to report to a rehabilitation facility in Emanuel County, but he left there and did not return to jail, said Capt. Justin Wells.

Hirsch has been missing since Nov. 20, he said. Authorities hope area residents may have and share information on Hirsch’s whereabouts.

Hirsch was sentenced to a stint in the rehabilitation facility after being found guilty of fleeing/attempt to elude officers, DUI, reckless driving and six counts of terroristic threats, Wells said.

The terroristic threats charges stemmed from Hirsch threatening to harm or kill law enforcement officers during the pursuit and subsequent arrest, he said.

Hirsch is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, 190 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information on Hirsch is asked to contact Wells at the Candler County Sheriff’s Office at (912) 685-2568.
